Why does Lucie's Lambs uses a pasture based system?

Rearing the flock on the rich permanent pasture leys has many benefits for both the sheep but also for human consumption:

  • Allows the sheep to convert the forage into milk and muscle as nature intended. 

  • More sustainable method of rearing sheep- no inputs, not intensive 

  • Low carbon footprint than more intensive methods- carbon is able to be stored in the grass rather than being emitted when ploughing occurs. 

  • Higher animal welfare, never housed and live as nature intended as well as all five freedoms being met 

  • Much healthier for the consumer, lower saturated : unsaturated fats
